Biography

Mr. Gonzalo Tamayo serves a Partner at Grupo Macro. He is a specialist in regulation and competition in the sectors of infrastructure, institutional reform, private activity assessment, and economic and financial analysis. For more than 20 years, he has led and participated in a variety of regulation, private activity assessments, and competition studies in the sectors of electricity, hydrocarbon, transport, and logistics, among others. He has done the same in investment opportunities, development of capital markets, and consultancies for Government entities, international institutions, and private clients. His career path includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Fondo Consolidado de Reservas (Consolidated Reserve Fund), the Organismo Supervisor de Inversión Privada en Telecomunicaciones (Supervisory Board for Private Investment in Telecommunications) (OSIPTEL), and ElectroperúHe is a professor at Universidad del Pacífico, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and the Graduate School of Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). He publishes academic research work, participates as a speaker in seminars and contributes as a columnist for several different Peruvian news organizations. Tomayo has a degree in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a Master's in Economics from the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).
