Biography

Dr. Michael Stocker serves as a Board Member at ActualMeds. He has been an exceptional healthcare leader throughout his career and brings experience and perspectives to ActualMeds from both the Payer and Provider segments. Currently, he served as a Trustee at Montefiore Medical Center. Just before that, he served as Chairman of the Board for New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation from 2008 -to 2014. He is well known as the former President and CEO of Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield who guided its transformation to a publicly-traded company in 2002, and which was eventually acquired by Wellpoint in 2005 where he continued to operate the East Region for them. Wellpoint is comprised of 14 Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans across the country. He also served as President and CEO of Cigna Health Plan. Mike began his career practicing medicine for a dozen years, board-certified in Internal Medicine and Family Practice, before assuming positions as Medical Director at two Health Plans. Over the years he has served on many Boards, including corporations, non-profits, New York City charitable foundations, and early-stage companies. Mr. Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, his MD degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and an MPH from the University of Michigan.
