Biography

Mr. Wil Samson served as Managing Director at Coronis Medical Ventures. He is an active independent investor and consultant in a number of ongoing start-up ventures in the area of medical devices. Mr. Samson has extensive experience in the medical device industry. He has been involved as an engineer, inventor, and company executive in the areas of blood-freezing and preservation, pathology equipment, and minimally invasive alternatives to open-heart surgery. He holds over 30 US patents and numerous international patents in the medical field, including such products as coronary catheters, angioplasty catheters, guiding catheters, guidewires, and temporary heart-pacing devices. He has worked as a Sr. Executive for Damon Corporation, USCI Division of C.R. Bard, and Advanced Cardiovascular Systems as a start up venture. He is a co-founder, President and CEO of Cardeon inc., a medical device venture in the field of Protective Heart Surgery. Mr. Samson began his career in the aerospace industry working for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the Hamilton Standard divisions of United Technologies where he worked in the areas of jet engine and missile development, defense systems, space exploration and as a member of the development team for the electrical power plant fuel cell for the Apollo program. He has studied engineering at the University of Hartford, University of Connecticut, and holds a BSME degree. He has additionally studied for his MBA at Babson Business College.
