Biography

Mr. Rui Gong served as Managing Director at Silver Creek Capital Management. His responsibilities include assisting the Investment Committee on risk-management issues and special investment projects for the firm's fund-of-funds offerings. Mr. Gong came to Silver Creek from HBK Capital Management, a once $12 billion multi-strategy hedge fund. He was responsible for developing statistical models for screening trades, implementing new pricing and risk models, creating and implementing various hedging strategies, and developing trading tools. Mr. Gong's activities were primarily tied to the convertible-arbitrage trading desk where he was involved with convertible bonds, corporate bonds, equity derivatives, credit default swaps (CDS), credit derivatives (CDX), and global treasuries. He also worked on issues affecting the credit, fixed-income arbitrage, and risk-management desks. Prior to HBK, he managed a team of software engineers at Microsoft and worked on various business applications including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Business Intelligence. He is a former high-school mathematics champion in China and a final-round candidate for the 1992 Chinese team for the International Math Olympiad. Mr. Gong holds a B.S. in economics and a B.E. in electronic engineering from Tsinghua University, China where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. He also holds an M.A. in geography from Boston University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from the CFA Institute.
