Biography

Dr. John Scanlan co-founded and served as Board Member of Inflection Biosciences. He is the Director of Commercialisation at National University of Ireland at Maynooth (NUIM), leading a team which focuses on exploiting university developed technologies via spin-out company formation and licensing to existing companies, building partnerships with industry and developing a culture of market-informed research. Since founding the office, Scanlan has overseen its growth to top performer in Ireland over 4 years with metrics far exceeding international standards. In that time he has executed approximately 30 collaboration agreements and approximately 20 license agreements and set-up 9 spin-off companies. Prior to joining NUI Maynooth, Scanlan was CTO of Straatum a software and hardware supplier to the semiconductor industry. Straatum spun out from his PhD thesis at DCU and was sold to Lam Research in California.
