Irene Garrido General Information

Biography

Ms. Irene Garrido served as President at Instituto de Credito Oficial. Her career has been closely linked to the world of academia, in particular the University of Vigo, where she has held various managerial positions. She has directed various Masters and university courses, including a Master in Business Administration and Management. Ms. Garrido has also actively participated in research programmes concerning markets and financial instruments as well as various R&D projects. She has also published scientific and technical books and articles in both Spain and the United States. Between 2006 and 2011 she was director of the Financial Economics and Accountancy Department at the University of Vigo, as well as coordinator of the education and research centre at the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP). Between November 2011 and her appointment, she was Member of Parliament for the province of Pontevedr and deputy spokesperson for the Committee of Economy and Competitiveness in the Spanish Congress of Deputies. Ms. Garrido has also sat on the Budget Committee, the Health and Social Services Committee for Integrated Policies for the Disabled, and the Sub-Committee for Banking Restructuring and Financial Reorganisation. She has also given talks on the following economic and financial regulations: the Royal Decree Law on the Writedown and Sale of Real Estate Assets in the Financial Sector; the Law on the Restructuring and Resolution of Credit Entities; the Law on Savings Banks and Banking Foundations; and the Law on the Regulation, Supervision and Solvency of Credit Entities.
