Biography

Mr. William Widhelm serves as Senior Vice President, Internal Audit at The Hilb Group. He joined the Hilb Group with over 20 plus years as an accounting professional. From 1994 to 2008, he held various positions at Hilb Rogal & Hobbs (HRH Insurance) but served a majority of that time as its Vice President and Director of Internal Audit. During his tenure at HRH, the company's annual revenues grew from $130 million to over $870 million. It was the ninth largest insurance broker in the world when it was sold to London-based Willis Group Holdings for $2.1 billion in October 2008. Bill also worked as Chief Financial Officer of the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity before becoming a Senior Advisory Consultant at VACO Resources serving several diverse clients. He has extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions, business process improvement, enterprise risk management, quality assurance, compliance, corporate governance, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. He has also managed the planning, documentation, testing and remediation of internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements. Bill graduated from Auburn University with an accounting degree. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Fraud Examiner. In addition, Bill is very active in the local sports scene. He serves on the Board of the Central Virginia Lacrosse Officials Association, officiates high school lacrosse games, and coaches several youth sports teams.
