Biography

Mr. Dean Athanasia serves as President of Consumer and Small Business at Bank of America. He is a member of the company's executive management team. His team is responsible for growing relationships with the company's 11 million mass affluent and small business banking customers. Mr. Athanasia leads a team of nearly 7,000 specialists in 2,000 banking centers and centralized contact centers nationwide. The specialists, including Financial Solution Advisors, small business bankers and mortgage loan officers, offer clients expertise and advice to meet their full financial relationship needs, ranging from ongoing cash management to personal and business lending, through home financing, investment and retirement planning. The team also leads the management and delivery of Merill Edge, the bank's relationship platform that combines the investment expertise of Merril Lynch and the banking strength of Bank of America into a unique one-stop solutions center for clients. Mr. Athanasia also leads Dealer Financial Services, which provides retail loan financing and other banking services to automotive dealers across the United States. Previously, Mr. Athanasia was the head of Global Wealth and Investment Management (GWIM) Banking and Merrill Edge for Bank of America. Before Bank of America's acquisition of Merrill Lynch, he served as president of Premier Banking and Investments for the GWIM division of Bank of America. Prior to that, he held the positions of GWIM chief information and chief operating officer. Before joining Bank of America, Mr. Athanasia held a variety of corporate banking and strategy positions with J.P. Morgan Chase and predecessor institutions.
