Larry Kocot General Information

Biography

Mr. Larry Kocot served as a Board Member at ICF International. He is also a visiting fellow in the economic studies program and deputy director of the Engelberg Center for Health Care Reform at the Brookings Institution. Mr. Kocot has served as a fellow in international security studies at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) as well as an adjunct fellow at CSIS. Between 2004 and 2007, Mr. Kocot served as a senior advisor to the administrator for the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In that role, he was a key member of the management and operations team responsible for the national launch and operation of the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit (Part D) and was involved in a wide range of healthcare policy issues and operations. Prior to that, Mr. Kocot was a senior vice president and general counsel at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) for nearly a decade. Before joining NACDS, he was active in the management of small businesses, including a start-up pharmacy benefits management company. Mr. Kocot is a board member and former interim president and CEO of the Partnership for a Healthier America, and he served as an appointed member of the Commonwealth Health Research Board where he was chairman from 2005 to 2008. Mr. Kocot has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also has a juris doctor degree and a master of legal letters degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
