Biography

Mr. Javier Barreiro Ramos is the Co-Founder and serves as General Partner at Arrebol Capital. He currently teaches entrepreneurship remotely at Universidad de los Andes. For more than 8 years he was part of the AI research group at NASA Ames Research Center, where he was the lead for the EUROPA open source project. The automated planning software he helped create has been used in a number of NASA missions including Mars Rovers Spirit and Opportunity, the Phoenix Mars Lander, the LADEE Lunar Orbiter, and the EDSN Cubesat mission. His love for working at the intersection of business and technology took him through the main tech hubs in the US. He lived in Boston, Austin, and is currently based in Silicon Valley. Throughout his professional career, he has taken roles as Software Architect, Engineering Manager, pre-sales engineer, forward-deployed consultant, and Product Manager. He spent 15 years in enterprise software creating AI/ML products sold to Global 1000 companies in the US, Europe, and Asia. During 2014-2019 he was Chief Architect and executive team member at Orbital Insight, a Silicon Valley startup backed by Sequoia Capital and Google Ventures. He holds dual Industrial Engineering and Computer Science degrees from Universidad de los Andes. He also holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. in Operations Research from The University of Texas at Austin.
