Biography

Mr. Christopher Tackney served as Managing Director and Trade/Portfolio Manager at Gramercy. He joined Gramercy in August 2016 as Co-Head of Gramercy's trading desk. He has over 21 years of trading and portfolio management experience in emerging markets. Along with Mr. Maloney, Mr. Tackney manages a dynamic trading desk spanning performing and distressed corporates and sovereigns, as well as credit default swaps and currency hedges. He is a key member of the Alternatives portfolio management team, and he constructs and executes a robust hedging program under the strategic direction of the CIO. Further, as Co-Head of the trading desk, Mr. Tackney is charged with building and maintaining effective relationships with the Street in order to facilitate firm-wide trade execution, asset sourcing, new issue allocations, and idea generation. He is a member of the Investment Committee, Valuation Committee, Alternatives Allocation Committee, and EMD Asset Allocation Committee. Mr. Tackney reports to Robert Koenigsberger, CIO. Prior to joining Gramercy in August 2016, Mr. Tackney was the Head of Trading at Greylock Capital. Before Greylock, Mr. Tackney was Senior Portfolio Manager for emerging markets corporate bonds at Schroder Investment Management with responsibility for global emerging markets corporate investments. Previously, he worked at Credit Suisse with responsibility for Asia credit trading. Before Credit Suisse, Mr. Tackney was a Portfolio Manager for emerging markets corporate credit funds at Black-River Asset Management, actively managing corporate portfolios. Mr. Tackney started his career with 10 years at TIAA-CREF, ascending through roles in private placements and structured finance, ultimately managing emerging markets sovereign and corporate fixed-income securities portfolio. Mr. Tackney received his MBA in Finance and Economics from New York University and his BA in Economics from Bucknell University. Additionally, Mr. Tackney is a CFA Charterholder.
