Biography
Dr. Michael Andersen serves as General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at Southpaw Asset Management. Prior to joining Southpaw in June 2014, Mr. Andersen was the general counsel and chief compliance officer of Alden Global Capital LLC. He was at Alden from December 2011 through February 2014. Previously, Mr. Andersen was the general counsel of K2 Advisors from 2007 to 2010. From 2002 to 2007, he was the head of the legal group at Ivy Asset Management Corp. Mr. Andersen began his legal career as an associate at Dechert LLP, where he was a member of the firm's investment management practice from 1998 to 2002. Mr. Andersen earned a JD cum laude from Hofstra Law School and a BS in Finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
