Biography

Ms. Janet Yale served as Chairperson at Ontario Trillium Foundation. She is an active member of the Ottawa community. She sits on the board of CARE Canada, Samara and the Ottawa Art Gallery. She was the past chair of the National Arts Centre Gala and the Board of Directors of the Ottawa United Way/Centraide Ottawa. Janet is a recipient of several prestigious business and community awards, including the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal, a winner of the Woman Leader of the Year by the Federated Press, the Businesswoman of the Year by the Women's Business Network and the 2008 United Way Community Builder of the Year. Janet is President and CEO of the Arthritis Society. She served as CEO of Scouts Canada from September 2010 to November 2011. Prior to that, she served in senior leadership roles at TELUS, including as national chair of TELUS' Community Boards, and executive vice-president of Corporate Affairs. With more than 20 years of government and regulatory experience Janet has served as president of the Canadian Cable Television Association and has held senior leadership positions at AT&T Canada, the CRTC and the Consumer's Association of Canada. Janet holds a BA from McGill University, a Master of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws in from the University of Toronto. She was called to the Ontario Bar in April 1983. In 2005, Janet became a certified director through the Director's Education Program offered by ICD.
