Biography

Mr. Tsunesaburo Sugaya serves as Managing Director & Partner at Miyako Capital. He also serves as a Board Member at I Peace. He also serves as a Board Member at Florida. He served as a Board Member at Trigence Semiconductor, AerNos. He serves as a Board Member at Drivemode. He also served as a Board Member at Flosfia and UltraSolar Technology. He is the former head of its Asia Business Development (ABD) Team based in Tokyo. Since the inception of Icon Ventures, he and the ABD team have been very successful in opening the Japan market for numerous portfolio companies including Brion Technologies (ASML Holdings), FireEye (FEYE), Infinera (INFN), Mimosa Systems (Iron Mountain), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Proofpoint (PFPT), SiTime (MegaChips), and Vuclip (PCCW). He has over 24 years of technology and business development experience and a network of relationships that distinguish our ability to bring leading-edge products to the Japanese market. He is a remarkable asset to many entrepreneurs and is widely respected by most of the major technology companies in Japan. Before Icon, he joined Jafco Co, in 1999, serving in a variety of business development roles. Before that, he spent 12 years at Motorola Japan, where he was responsible for design teams building next-generation cell phones and pagers. In this capacity, he managed both software and hardware development teams. A number of the design modules he created are still in use today. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and electrical engineering from the National Defense Academy in Japan. He also served as Strategic Advisor at Icon Ventures.
