Biography

Mr. William Hagerty served as Co-Founder & Managing Director at Hagerty Peterson and Company. He served as an executive at Tennessee Community Ventures. Mr. Hagerty attended Vanderbilt University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in Economics. He then attended Vanderbilt Law School as a Wilson Scholar and was elected to the Law Review where he served as Associate Editor. Bill began his professional career at global management consultancy Boston Consulting Group ("BCG") where he worked on 5 different continents for a broad range of clients in the Health Care, Financial Services, Consumer Products, Media, and Technology sectors. His last three years with the firm were spent in Tokyo, Japan, as the Senior Expatriate responsible for managing Boston Consulting's Western clients throughout Japan and Asia. During the Bush (41) Administration, Bill joined the White House Staff with assignments in international trade, commerce, treasury, defense, and telecom. He was selected as a White House Fellow reporting to the Vice President of the United States. Following his White House service Bill joined Silicon Valley-based Trident Capital and began his career in private equity. In 2011, Mr. Hagerty joined the Cabinet of newly elected Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam as Commissioner of Economic Development for his home state, with responsibility for trade, jobs, and economic growth for Tennessee. Bill served on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Compensation Committee for global publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt during its transition from an Irish-domiciled company to one now headquartered in the US. Today, Bill is a Director and member of the Audit Committee for Ryman Hospitality, the lodging and entertainment firm that owns such iconic brands as Gaylord Hotels, The Grand Ole Opry, and the Ryman Auditorium. Recently the US Senate confirmed that Bill Hagerty will be the new U.S. ambassador to Japan. He serves as Board Member at Pinnacle Financial Partners.
