Biography

Mr. Carlos Machado served as Chief Administrative Officer at Lewis Energy Colombia. He served as President, Arctas Colombia at Arctas Capital Group. Prior to joining Arctas in 2012, Mr. Machado had undertaken a successful career in the Oil & Gas exploration and production sector in different companies with primary focus on Colombia, also Peru and Brazil. He was responsible for business development activities, commercial deal structuring (including E&P contracts and JOA negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, acquisition of exploration acreage, farm-in and farm-out), corporate planning, management of partnerships and government relations. Responsibilities also included negotiation of crude and natural gas transportation capacity and marketing, as well as infrastructure development. Mr. Machado's involvement in the E&P sector in Colombia begun in 2001 with Triton a Dallas-based E&P company in 2001 (later acquired by Hess Corp, which later sold its Colombian assets to BP in 2003), where he was responsible for planning and commercial activities, including the development of a Gas Treatment Plant project in Cusiana/Cupiagua fields, including commercial structuring, negotiations amongst partners and Ecopetrol, management of relationship with partners, Colombia's regulators and other government agencies to bring 200mmcfd in new natural gas supply to the country. He also supervised transportation, crude oil and gas marketing activities including company's interest in pipeline companies Ocensa, AOM and ODC. He led the asset valuation and deal structuring of Triton Colombia sale to British Petroleum in 2003 (asset swap for BP's position in the Joint Development Area, offshore gas asset between Thailand and Malaysia). He was directly involved with major oil and gas fields Cusiana and Cupiagua in the Foothills basin for 4 years.
