Overview

The PitchBook HubSpot Plugin improves your CRM by integrating PitchBook data, removing the need for manual entry and making lead management, account growth, and updates easier. It enables simple import of contact information, investor data, companies, advisory firms, and limited partners. This article covers everything you need to optimize your HubSpot-PitchBook integration.

Installation and setup

Follow the steps below to start your HubSpot integration journey with PitchBook:

  1. Head to the My PitchBook section at the top of the left-hand sidebar of the PitchBook Platform.
  2. Hover over Plugins & Apps and select HubSpot Plugin.
  3. Select the blue contact support button and send a message to our support team that you would like to set up the HubSpot integration.

The support team then works with your account manager and takes the necessary steps to set up the HubSpot connection on the PitchBook side.

Once this setup has been completed, your account manager will reach out to you and give you the necessary steps to go ahead with the installation on your system.

Mapping your HubSpot CRM data to PitchBook

Once the HubSpot integration is connected to PitchBook, you can customize your integration with a few key options.

Mapping companies and contacts

Field mapping is the process of connecting (or “mapping”) data fields between HubSpot and the PitchBook Platform.

When you integrate your HubSpot CRM with PitchBook, both systems may have the same information, but it may be named differently.

  1. To map the data, head to the My PitchBook section of the left-hand side-bar of the main PitchBook Platform.
  2. Select HubSpot CRM from the Plugins & Apps flyout.
  3. Next, you will see Contact Mapping and Company Mapping tabs with the PitchBook Field next to the HubSpot Field. If you’re happy with the matched fields and for PitchBook to automatically pull data into your HubSpot fields, check the Auto Sync box. There are 83 available fields to map.

Ready to get started?

Linking and syncing

Once you have mapped your fields, the next step is to link and sync them. Linking is the simple process of matching a company or contact in your HubSpot CRM to PitchBook. Once linked, you then sync the company which imports information from PitchBook into your HubSpot CRM.

Linking process

Linking a company to PitchBook from your HubSpot CRM tool couldn’t be easier. When a company is linked, it means the connection has been made, and the data from PitchBook can be imported to your HubSpot CRM.

1. To link a company, start by viewing the company in HubSpot. Once on your chosen company overview on HubSpot, head to the right-hand side of the screen. Scroll to the PitchBook Plugin section and tap Link to PitchBook. Depending on your configuration on HubSpot, you may need to scroll to the bottom of the section on the right-hand side to find the PitchBook Plugin section.

2. From the pop-up window that follows, tap the Link button in the Action column next to the name of the company. Clicking this button links the company on HubSpot to PitchBook and opens the PitchBook widget within your HubSpot CRM.

3. From the widget, you can see the PitchBook profile for the company without opening the PitchBook Platform. The widget displays details about the company, including deal data, financials, and news, organized by tabs at the top.

Syncing process

After you link a company using the steps mentioned above, it’s ready to sync. The syncing process transfers PitchBook data to the relevant custom PitchBook fields. This enables you to utilize PitchBook data across HubSpot, including in reporting and as an input to potential automation workflows. The custom fields are specific data points available on PitchBook that you can view in your HubSpot CRM.

1. To sync, head to the linked company on HubSpot. From the right-hand side of the screen, scroll the PitchBook Plugin section and tap the View PitchBook Profile button.
2. From the pop-up window, select PitchBook Sync in the top right-hand corner. Clicking this button will open a sync window showing which fields will be populated for that company, existing data in those fields, and the PitchBook data that will be imported.

3. Tap the specific fields you would like to sync from the PitchBook Data column. Then tap the blue Sync button at the top of the page. You will see a green message stating ‘Sync Successful’ when the syncing has finished processing.

4. Close the window using the white x at the top of the window to return to the company overview and see the PitchBook data fields you have selected there in your HubSpot CRM. Both linking and syncing are unlimited, meaning you can perform as many links and syncs as you need.

Auto-linking and syncing

As well as the method explained in the steps above, the HubSpot Plugin also features a automatic linking and syncing feature. This means once you install the HubSpot Plugin, every Sunday at 5 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST), PitchBook profiles will automatically link based on exact matches of company names within your HubSpot CRM.

Once a company has been linked, it will continue to automatically update every week. This will occur every Sunday at 5 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST).
