Who We Are

PitchBook operates a newsroom staffed by full-time financial journalists dedicated to authoritative reporting on global financial markets. Meet the team.

We put PitchBook’s readers first. Our mission is to be the market’s essential source of timely insights and information that leverages our journalistic expertise, proprietary data and traditional news reporting.

Our reporters, editors, analysts, data journalists and designers are trained and experienced in financial journalism. We hold ourselves to the profession’s highest standards of editorial integrity and best practices.

Code of Conduct

PitchBook Data is a subsidiary of Morningstar, and our employees must comply with Morningstar’s editorial policies.

In keeping with our ethical standards and corporate code of conduct, the PitchBook newsroom is committed to accuracy, fairness and professional integrity in every facet of our newsgathering and publishing practices in the service of our readers. All PitchBook journalists are required to undergo training—and periodic re-training—in our code of conduct and editorial standards.

Editorial Values

We strive to bring an independent perspective to our coverage based on our professional news judgment. The editors are solely responsible for all of our content and strategy, including what news topics we choose to cover.

PitchBook maintains strict guidelines on editorial ethics that seek to eliminate any favoritism or conflicts of interest, or even an appearance of bias. Journalists are required to maintain a healthy professional distance from the institutions and individuals we cover; we don’t accept gifts or favors. Journalists must disclose to editors, and to the reader, the existence of any relationship or financial interest that may create a conflict of interest or that may lead to a perception of such.

We separate the news department from working directly with PitchBook’s media sales, business development and client-services teams; news personnel don’t coordinate with commercial teams on content strategy or decision-making about our coverage.

Research and Data

At PitchBook, we differentiate our news content by bringing a strong research-driven approach to our reporting and commentary, in collaboration with the PitchBook Institutional Research Group and backed by our best-in-class data about the financial markets. You can learn more about our research methodologies here.

We seek out data and use it accurately and in good faith, to the best of our ability.

Corrections Policy

All editorial content at PitchBook goes through rigorous editing and fact-checking.

We hold ourselves accountable for accurate reporting, and we believe in being up-front and transparent with readers when we make errors or require clarifications. When a correction is warranted, we strive to make them on the same business day we uncover an error.

A senior editor will supervise decisions on issuing a correction or clarification.

Correction notes or updates about clarifications are added at the end of the article, and in some cases may also appear in our newsletters if warranted.
