Drones are flying agtech to greater heights
VC deals in agtech are below the levels seen in 2023, and our latest Emerging Tech Research projects that the $1.1 billion across 147 deals in Q2 2024 won't be enough for this year to catch up. However, while overall agtech deals are muted, certain subsegments within the vertical are seeing less dramatic declines since 2021—such as drones & imagery analytics.
Agriculture drones represent a significant opportunity for startups and investors. Drones can be optimized for crop and livestock health monitoring, field mapping and surveying, spraying, and more. The versatility of this technology means agriculture drone companies can make strides in reducing waste, input costs, and resource usage for all types of farms.
