Tech Talks: Chartering the next course of innovation for instant payments

Rudy Yang is a senior emerging technology analyst at PitchBook covering the fintech vertical. His work has often been cited by top-tier publications, including Barron’s, CNBC, and Yahoo. Prior to joining PitchBook, Rudy was the lead equity research analyst covering the consumer discretionary sector at Berenberg Capital Markets.

Rudy holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Rutgers University. He is based in PitchBook’s San Francisco office.

Daniel Baum is the head of payments product for the FedNow Service. In his role, Dan leads product development and product management efforts for the Federal Reserve’s newly announced FedNow service offering.

Baum previously served as vice president in the Retail Payments Office (RPO) of the Federal Reserve System, where he led the RPO’s product development group overseeing Check and ACH product development and pricing. He also serves as a product development director in the RPO, overseeing key product and pricing initiatives for the automated clearinghouse (ACH) and check business lines. From 1996 to 2005, Baum worked at the Richmond Fed managing day check operations and led the Fifth District’s Check Administration department.

Baum holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland at Baltimore, an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, and attended Banking School at Vanderbilt University.

Mr. Colassano has more than 25 years of experience in all facets of the Payments and Cash Management business. He joined The Clearing House in 2016 as a Senior Vice President in the Product Development and Strategy group, where he is focused on product strategy and bank readiness for TCH’s new real-time payments system. In this role he works closely with TCH owner banks on opportunities and applications to address business related payment problems and identify strategic priorities for this new payments infrastructure.

Before joining The Clearing House, Jim spent 10 years with HSBC as a Product Executive in their Payments and Cash Management group. During that period, he served as the Global Product Head for their Payables business which had responsibility for faster payments initiatives as well as cash, check and ACH payment products worldwide. Before joining HSBC, he spent 15 years with JP Morgan Chase in a variety of cash and treasury management roles. Mr. Colassano holds Master’s Degrees in Banking and Finance from Pace University.

Veteran bank executive Rob Nardelli serves as Director of Commercial Banking for DailyPay, a leading financial technology company creating groundbreaking payments innovation. In his role, Nardelli serves as a sales lead for channel top partnerships, leveraging his vast experience in business strategy, panel discussions, strategic business development, treasury services, and bank partnerships.

Prior to joining DailyPay, Nardelli served as Senior Vice President at Citizens Financial Group, serving as a Senior Sales Specialist focused on treasury solutions and consulting corporate clients on how to optimize their working capital, efficiently manage their operating liquidity, and improve their cash management processes.

Nardelli’s experience also includes several leadership roles at JP Morgan, including Vice President, serving as a Treasury Management Officer with a sizable portfolio of clients primarily focused in the sports, media, and technology industries.

Nick Chandi is the CEO and co-founder of Forwardly, the award-winning instant business payments provider for small businesses and accountants in the United States. As CEO, Nick oversees all levels of the organization. He is a serial entrepreneur and, before Forwardly, built and exited multiple successful businesses during his two decades in accounting, technology, and finance.

Nick is a co-chair of the BC Tech CEO Scale C-Council, a regular contributor to the Forbes Finance Council, and has been an expert judge for multiple awards, including the US Fintech Awards, American Business Awards, Globee Awards, and FinTech MassChallenge, among others. Nick has an MBA and Bachelor’s in Engineering and often touches on his education and experience when mentoring other CEOs and speaking at fintech, business, and accounting events, discussing small business issues, including technology, payments, and lending practices.
