Overview

The PitchBook Salesforce Plugin allows you to view and import PitchBook information directly into your Salesforce environment. This makes capturing leads, building out accounts, and refreshing data even simpler. With the plugin, you can create a list of potential clients in PitchBook and then bring those leads right into your CRM.

You can import details for contacts, investors, companies, advisory firms, limited partners, and more. Our data syncs weekly, so you will automatically receive updates on industry intelligence, enabling superior reporting and analysis. Setup and installation

Follow the steps below to start your Salesforce integration journey with PitchBook:

  1. Head to the My PitchBook section at the top of the left-hand sidebar of the PitchBook Platform.
  2. Hover over Plugins & Apps and select Salesforce Plugin.
  3. Select the blue Contact your account manager button and send a message to our support team that you would like to set up the Salesforce integration.

The support team then works with your account manager and takes the necessary steps to set up the Salesforce connection on the PitchBook side.

Once this setup has been completed, your account manager will reach out to you and give you the necessary approval to go ahead with the installation on your system.

Mapping your Salesforce CRM data to PitchBook

Once the Salesforce integration is connected to PitchBook, you can customize your integration with a few key options.

Mapping Companies and Contacts

Field mapping is the process of connecting (or “mapping”) data fields between Salesforce and the PitchBook Platform. This is where you specify which data in PitchBook should match or update your field in Salesforce.

When you integrate your Salesforce CRM with PitchBook, both systems may have the same information, but it may be named differently.

  1. To map the data, head to the Plugins & Apps section of the left-hand side-bar of the main PitchBook Platform. Select Salesforce Plugin from the fly-out.
  2. Next, from the Account Mapping tab, you will see PitchBook Field next to the Salesforce Field. If you’re happy with the matched fields and for PitchBook to automatically pull data into your Salesforce fields, check the Auto Sync box. You have access to 83 fields.

Linking and syncing

Once you have installed the Salesforce Plugin and mapped your fields, linking and syncing are the next steps.

Linking

Linking is the process of matching PitchBook profiles to accounts in Salesforce. Once you have installed the PitchBook Salesforce Plugin, PitchBook automatically tries to link your Salesforce objects with entities in PitchBook if it can find a match.

You can also manually link an account to PitchBook:

  1. Start by viewing the account in Salesforce that you want to link to PitchBook by typing the organization name into the search bar at the top of your Salesforce page. Once on the account, navigate to the Details tab.
  2. On the Details tab, you will see the PitchBook iFrame. The iFrame lists all the potential matches of the account on Salesforce to the PitchBook Platform. Search the list and click Link once you have identified the PitchBook profile you’d like to link with the account.

Syncing

If you want to pull PitchBook data into your Salesforce CRM on an ad-hoc basis, you can manually sync the account from within Salesforce.

1. Head to the account you have linked and tap the Details tab.
2. Tap the PitchBook Sync button at the top of the iFrame.

Every Sunday at 5 AM EST, PitchBook uses Salesforce Admin Credentials to update data fields on accounts that were manually synced using the PitchBook plugin.

Import contacts

The People tab of the PitchBook Plugin window displays a list of all contacts that PitchBook has for the company you are viewing. If you select a contact and then tap Import Selected, a new Contact profile will be created in Salesforce for that person. Each time you import a contact, it counts as one sync.

Troubleshooting
