Investing in Europe? Here are six conferences you need to attend this October
September 15, 2016
In the private markets, who you know matters; and who you don’t know might be the difference between getting in on a big opportunity and missing out completely.
As a VC, PE and M&A data and technology provider, we make a point to attend just about every industry conference we can (shout out to our awesome events and partnerships team). For our European readers, here are six conferences that stand out for the month of October:
First of all, whether you’re a seasoned professional or just getting started in the private markets, Invest Europe’s training programs are great resources, and their deal negotiation training in the first week of October is no exception.
This two-day course will not only give you practical knowledge of negotiation tactics, but also allow you to practice your negotiating skills with peers from all over Europe. Per the events’ website:
Prepare quickly, efficiently and effectively for all types of private equity negotiations
Develop a deeper understanding of the two main types of negotiation, different types of negotiators, and their different methods and goals
Appreciate the different outcomes of, and alternatives to, a negotiation
Learn how to develop greater negotiation powers such as the use of precedent, competition, time and authority
Understand negotiation tactics and tradables, how to use them skillfully and how to respond to them when used on you
Practice your negotiating solo and in teams to ensure the knowledge and skills stay when they are most needed
Truthfully, if you know anything about PitchBook’s history, you know that we go way back with ACG—we’ve been their official data partner since 2009, and have been providing support for their events for some time now.
All biases aside, we think EuroGrowth is the No. 1 can’t-miss event for private equity executives, investment bankers, lenders, corporate strategic acquirers, privately-held business owners and service providers.
Each year, the team at EuroGrowth hosts over 200 of the top global middle-market M&A professionals for two days, providing nonstop networking opportunities, along with discussions around the latest industry trends and best practices.
Eurus brings together corporate decision-makers, industry leaders and senior professionals active in European private equity, venture capital and real estate activities.
They’ve already a released an extensive list of reasons to attend the event, among them: networking opportunities with investors, fund managers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers, insightful conversations around best practices, and discussions on relevant issues around value creation, fundraising, performance, regulations and trends.
If ESG investing isn’t quite on your radar, then consider attending C5’s CEE Private Equity Forum instead.
This conference provides a platform for discussing the opportunities and challenges that the private equity asset class is facing in Eastern and Central Europe, while also showcasing the latest and most successful investment and exit strategies.
If you haven’t guessed by now, we’re a big fan of Invest Europe’s events. In late October, over 250 of the leading institutional investors, fund managers and entrepreneurs will gather at their Venture Capital Forum. Per their website, discussions will include:
Ways to transform the European VC landscape to maximize the magnitude of its economic impact and returns to investors
Connecting the VC ecosystem to improve relations and deal syndication to fill funding gaps
