In terms of VC deal and exit activity, the global healthcare sector has been hot for quite some time. According to the PitchBook Platform, venture investment in the space has soared for a number of years, reaching an all-time high for deals completed in 2013 (2,041) and capital invested in 2014 ($18.1B). Exit activity—which has predominantly involved acquisition deals—has remained strong, increasing each of the past two years. While we usually focus on the companies receiving VC funding or the venture firms exiting their investments, today we take a look at the top buyers of VC-backed healthcare companies since 2006, as well as the average value of their investments.
