David Williams General Information
Description
Mr. David Williams serves as Managing Partner At Knickerbocker Capital. He is the Managing GP of 2020 Ventures Management, LP, and the manager of Knickerbocker Capital, LP, an open-ended fund investing in decentralized web companies and digital assets. He is an accomplished investor and executive with over 30 years of experience investing in and building internet and software companies in the US and China. He formed 2020 Ventures with personal funds in 2010. Success with private investments in LinkedIn, Facebook, and Spotify led to the formation of 2020 Ventures, LP, with $10 million invested capital in 2014. In 2018, the fund began to shift focus from Web 2 to Web 3 investments; and in 2020, relocated from San Francisco to New York, becoming Knickerbocker Capital, LP. He lived in Beijing, China, from 2002 through 2007, working in the non-profit sector as well as investing in private companies, including Pacific Online Ltd, which was listed on the Hong Kong exchange in December 2007 (HK.0543). Through GoodWork International Inc., he assisted non-profit organizations seeking to alleviate poverty in China through entrepreneurship. From 1992 to 2002, he held leadership positions in consumer software and online companies including Micrografx Inc. and Excite.com. He began his career in 1987 as a financial analyst in the Equity Capital Markets group at Kidder, Peabody & Co. in New York. Following Kidder, he worked as an Associate at the British merchant bank Charterhouse Inc. He earned a B.S. in Economics from Southern Methodist University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.
