Mr. Robert Maier serves as Business Angel at Saarbruecker 21. He served as Partner & Investment Team Member at HV Capital. Mr. Maier is an angel investor. He holds a degree in Business Administration from WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. He spent semesters in India at IIMA and in France at the Sorbonne. After graduating from university, he became an investment banker at Merrill Lynch in Frankfurt and London. He later joined a VC fund as an investment manager. As a co-founder of Visual Meta (LadenZeile.de) - an international Berlin-based operator of shopping comparison websites - he served as CEO for ten years. During this time he was responsible for all non-technical topics such as marketing, strategy, finance, sales, HR and product. He scaled the company from zero to over 300 people in over 15 countries, with €40m revenue and €10m net profit within a few years. He sold Visual Meta to Axel Springer/Idealo. Since 2008, he has invested in over fifty companies as an angel investor. These include outstanding start-ups such as Flaschenpost, PlusDental, Lillydoo, Audibene and Gastrofix. He maintains a strong interest in disrupting business models across a broad range of industries and sectors, including Commerce, B2B, Enterprise, SaaS and D2C. He is a highly experienced founder, CEO and angel investor. He has seen both sides of the start-up and VC industries. He joined HV Capital as a Partner in April 2020. He loves working with committed founders and applying innovation to solve real problems in large markets.
