Description
NewSchools Venture Fund (NewSchools) is an independent non-profit private foundation based in Oakland, California. Established in 1998, by social entrepreneur Kim Smith and venture capitalists John Doerr and Brook Byers, NewSchools' mission is to transform public education through powerful ideas and passionate entrepreneurs so that all children, especially those in underserved communities, have the opportunity to succeed. Newschools provide grants to teams of educators and organizations that are improving public education. The assets are managed by the board of directors.
