Howard Morgan (right), partner and co-founder at First Round Capital, will be stepping back from formal venture capital at the end of this year. He will be refocusing on angel investing, a practice in which he has prior experience. Morgan will have spent 12 years with First Round Capital upon his resignation. The firm also announced that Brett Berson has been promoted to partner; he joined the team in May 2008 as an intern and most recently served as VP of platform.
Scott Belsky will be moving from his current position as a general partner at Benchmark into a venture partner role. He plans to refocus on a pre-launch company he co-founded for which Benchmark led the Series A. Belsky joined the firm just seven months ago, prior to which move he founded Behance, a platform for creative professionals that was acquired by Adobe by 2012.
Eventbrite founder Kevin Hartz has joined Founders Fund as a partner. He will no longer be involved with day-to-day operations at Eventbrite but will remain involved through his position as executive chairman. Along with operational experience, Hartz holds quite a bit of investing experience, having personally backed companies including Airbnb, PayPal, Pinterest and Uber.
