Andreessen Horowitz hires first female GP to launch crypto fund

Andreessen Horowitz has brought on former federal prosecutor Katie Haun as its first female general partner. In her new role, Haun will co-lead the firm's new $300 million cryptocurrency fund alongside Chris Dixon, who's been an investor with the firm for more than five years. While this is the firm's first dedicated digital currency vehicle, a16z has invested in several crypto companies, including Ripple and Coinbase.

In addition to her work at the firm, Haun will continue teaching a cryptocurrency class at Stanford, where she landed as a lecturer after leaving her role as assistant US attorney and digital currency coordinator at the US Department of Justice last year. She's also on the boards of Coinbase and HackerOne.
