TPG introduces Y Analytics to gauge the impact of impact investing

TPG Capital has launched Y Analytics, an organization that will use researchers to measure the effectiveness of impact investments and assist in capital allocation. The entity, based in Washington, DC, is being dubbed an extension of The Rise Fund, the $2 billion impact vehicle TPG founded alongside Bono in late 2017. Maryanne Hancock, a former executive at McKinsey, will lead the new initiative.

TPG is currently raising money for a second Rise Fund that's reportedly aiming to bring in $3.5 billion, which would mark the largest impact vehicle to date, according to the PitchBook Platform. And TPG isn't the only PE firm looking to make a dent in the sector. Bain Capital raised $390 million in 2017 for Bain Capital Double Impact, a social impact investment vehicle led by former Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick.
