Bank of England (BoE) serves as the central bank of the United Kingdom and is based in London. Founded in 1694, the bank offers banking services to Government and other customers, principally central banks and other financial institutions. Bank of England acts as an agent for HM Treasury in managing the United Kingdom's foreign currency assets, gold reserves, and its foreign currency liabilities. The bank also deals in the foreign exchange market, maintains the stability of the financial system and offers technical assistance and advice to other central banks.
