The African Development Bank is a commercial bank and an economic development agency founded in 1964 and based in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The bank is a multilateral development financial institution, comprising of three distinct entities namely the African Development Bank, the parent institution, and two affiliates, the African Development Fund and the Nigerian Trust Fund. The overall objective of the African Development Bank Group is to support the economic development and social progress of African countries individually and collectively, by promoting the investment of public and private capital in projects and programs designed to reduce poverty and improve living conditions. The bank is managed and administered by the board of governors. The bank provides debt financing facilities such as loans to small and medium-sized companies. The bank caters to industries such as transportation, agriculture, climate change, gender, economic and financial governance, education, energy & power, environment, human capital development, health, private sector, and many others.
