Mark Stevens General Information


Mr. Mark Stevens is a Founder and serves as Managing Partner at S-Cubed Capital. Mr. Mark Stevens serves as Board Member, Member of the Audit Committee, and Member of the Nominating and Governance Committee at Nvidia. He is an Angel Investor. He is a special limited partner and former Managing Partner at Sequoia Capital, a global venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, CA. Mark joined Sequoia in 1989 as an associate and became a partner in 1993. Prior to Sequoia, he was employed at Intel Corporation from 1982 to 1987 in a variety of sales positions. He began his career as a member of the technical staff at Hughes Aircraft Company from 1980 to 1982. During his tenure at Sequoia, Mark served as a director of the following companies: Aspect Development (public, merged with i2 Technologies, AtWeb (acquired by Netscape/AOL), Beceem (acquired by Broadcom), Billpoint (acquired by eBay), Commquest (acquired by IBM), Mobile Peak (acquired by Spreadtrum), (public, acquired by Vivendi Universal), Pixelworks, Quicklogic, Stratum One (acquired by Cisco), Summit Design (public, acquired by Mentor Graphics), Terayon Communications (public, acquired by Motorola). He was also responsible for Sequoia's successful investments in Documentum (public, acquired by EMC) and Quickturn (public, acquired by Cadence Design). Mark served on the Board of Directors of Innovium. He has served on the Board of Trustees of USC since 2001 (co-chair of the Investment Committee and member of Finance and Executive Committees). He is also a member of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering Board of Councilors and is the founder and chairman of the USC Stevens Center for Innovation. He also serves on the Advisory board of the Harvard Business School's California Research Center (CRC). Mark is a Trustee at Menlo School and serves on the Investment Committees for Santa Clara University and Sobrato Family Holdings. Since 2010, he has been a part-time lecturer for a sales management course at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business (GSB). Recently he has become an investor and Executive Board Member of the Golden State Warriors. Mark is a past President of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists (WAVC), past chairman of the Stanford University DAPER Venture Fund, and past chairman of the Harvard Business School Entrepreneur of the Year Award dinner. Mark earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and B.A. in Economics (both magna cum laude) from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1981, an M.S. in Computer Engineering from USC in 1984, and an MBA from Harvard University in 1989.
