Mr. Lip-Bu Tan is a Co-Founder and serves as Executive Managing Director at WRV Capital. He also serves as Co-Founding Managing Partner at WRVI Capital. He serves as Chairman of the Board at SambaNova Systems. He also serves as Chief Executive Officer and Board Member at Cadence Design Systems. He also serves as chairman of Walden International, a venture capital firm he founded in 1987. Prior to founding Walden, he was Vice President at Chappell & Co. and held management positions at EDS Nuclear and ECHO Energy. He serves on the board of directors of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., Quantenna Communications, Inc., and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC), as well as the boards of the Electronic System Design Alliance (ESD Alliance) and the Global Semiconductor Association (GSA). He also serves on the Board of Trustees and the School of Engineering Dean's Council at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He is the recipient of the 2016 GSA Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award. He received an M.S. in nuclear engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981, an MBA from the University of San Francisco in 1983, and a B.S. from Nanyang University in Singapore in 1978.
