Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement System General Information
Pennsylvania Public School Employees Retirement (PSERS) is a public pension fund based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Between its founding in 1917 and 2017, the plan operated as a defined benefit plan for eligible participants who work in the state's public education system. Act 5 of 2017 requires PSERS to administer two new hybrid retirement options consisting of defined benefit and defined contribution components and a stand-alone DC plan. PA PSERS returned 5.92 percent over three years, 7.36 percent over five years, and 7.40 percent over ten years as of the Sept. 30, 2020, quarter close. The assets of the pension fund are managed and governed by the board of trustees with assistance from PSERS Executive Director, Investment, Financial Management, Chief Counsel offices, among other administrative divisions.
