Help: How to request research, submit data feedback, or update your profile

PitchBook’s research process creates our robust database of companies, deals, investors, and more. We are committed to providing everyone using our products with the most accurate information available. If you believe there is an error in our data or you would like to see specific data added, let us know! This article includes the steps you can take to directly submit research requests or data feedback to our Data Operations team.

This article details how to use both the request research and data feedback tools.

• The request research tool is best suited to requests regarding entities that are not currently in PitchBook.
• The data feedback tool is best suited to requests regarding entities with existing profiles in PitchBook.

Both types of requests are routed to the Data Operations team, who review and process each submission.

If you would like to see a deal or a new profile (such as for a company or an investor) added to the platform, please let us know by completing the following steps.

1. From within the platform, click on your name in the top right corner of the page to open the drop-down menu.
2. Then, click Request Research.
3. In the new window, enter any information you have about the entity or deal you’d like us to research.
4. Once you’re done, click Send.

You can submit data feedback in various ways. Each method will be covered in the following sections.

If you would like us to review, edit, or add information to an existing profile, please let us know by completing the following steps.

1. Navigate to the profile of the entity you would like to submit data feedback on, and click the Data Feedback button in the top right corner of the page.
2. In the new window, provide a detailed description of any errors or incorrect information regarding this profile’s data for our Data Operations team.
3. Click Send. This will send a message directly to our Data Operations team so they can investigate further and update the profile accordingly.

PitchBook Mobile allows users to submit data feedback while on the go.

1. Open the Settings menu at the bottom of the screen.
2. Select Report a data issue.
3. In the new window, provide a detailed description of any errors or incorrect information regarding the data before you submit the feedback.

If you have feedback about data from Excel Plugin formulas, you can send this directly through the plugin.

1. In the Excel Plugin, click the Send Feedback button in the top ribbon.
2. In the new window, provide a detailed description of any errors or incorrect information regarding the data before you submit the feedback. You can also choose to include a screenshot of your current plugin view in your message if needed.
3. Click Send.

Take control of your data by contributing up-to-date and accurate information on your firm.

1. Navigate to your organization’s profile on PitchBook.
2. Click Update Profile in the top right-hand corner.
3. You are then taken outside of the PitchBook Platform to the Profile Review Tool. The Profile Review Tool is where you can submit new information on your firm. Follow the steps in our Update your PitchBook profile article to complete the form. That article also contains frequently asked questions about access to the tool and verification of data submitted in the forms. Once submitted, our Data Operations team reviews your submission within three working days.
