Help: Navigating a profile
Every entity on PitchBook has a profile, detailing all the information we track on it in one centralized location. You can easily get to a profile by searching for it in the General Search bar, or by clicking on the entity’s name throughout the platform. This article outlines the key features and tools found on profiles.

The header of profiles allows you to perform common actions across all entity types, such as saving and sharing. The example below shows a public company profile, however, all profile headers share a similar layout. The numbers in this image correspond with the definitions below.
1. Entity name – The name of the entity. If applicable, the entity’s logo is to the left of the name.
- For public companies, their ticker and exchange are also displayed. If the company has more than one share class, you can click on the dropdown to view a different share class.
2. Ellipses – After clicking on the three-dot menu, you will see a dropdown of five actions you can choose from. These include the ability to:
- Download the profile to Excel, Word, and/or PDF.
- Add the profile to a List or Workspace.
- Add a note to the profile.
- Add a file to the profile.
- Print the profile.
3. Share – The Share button allows you to easily email the profile to others. Recipients with a PitchBook license will be sent a link to the profile, and recipients without a license will receive a link to download a copy of the profile. The link icon allows you to quickly copy the profile’s link to your clipboard. Only licensed users will be able to access the link to the platform.
4. Save – The Save button allows you to add or remove the profile to a List, Workspace, and/or Market Map if the entity is a company.
5. Profile Type – The Profile Type field tells you which entity type you are viewing (Investor, Company, etc). You can click on the dropdown to toggle between the different types. This field only appears for entities with more than one profile type.
6. Top ribbon – The top ribbon consists of tabs where all information about the entity is organized. The Profile tab is the landing page when you click on a profile and provides a thorough overview of the entity.
7. Data Feedback – The Data Feedback button allows you to give our Data Operations team direct feedback on the profile, such as any wrong or missing information.
If you are on the profile of your own firm, you will also see an Update Profile button next to the Data Feedback button. This allows you to submit any updates on your profile yourself. For more information on how to use this tool, check out our article Update your PitchBook profile.
