Access

Depending on your university, there are two ways to access the PitchBook Platform.

Single sign-on (SSO)

PitchBook’s preferred sign-in method for university accounts is single sign-on (SSO). SSO access allows you to log in with a single set of credentials across multiple applications, enabling universities to control access through their identity management systems. Most universities already use SSO, making your setup quick and straightforward. For more details on SSO, visit our article Getting started with single sign-on.

Microsite

Microsites are subsites of PitchBook that are primarily for university users, allowing you to create your own account. If you are part of a university with a microsite, you will only be able to log in through that specific microsite. The allowed IP range(s) that you must be connected to include on campus IP ranges, proxy addresses and/or VPN ranges.

To get started, reach out to your school librarian.

“PitchBook is the gold standard for data on privately-backed companies and the VC and PE ecosystem. Over the years they have expanded their coverage to provide excellent data on public companies and M&A as well, and have vastly increased the coverage on international companies. The platform is intuitive and easy-to-use and customer service is top-notch.”

FAQs

Below is a collection of FAQs to help you with your university account access.

I had access to PitchBook a few weeks ago, and now it says invalid account. What happened?

It’s likely your school underwent a user reset at the end of the academic year. If so, head back to your university portal and click Create an Account to reactivate.

I’m getting an invalid IP error. How can I access PitchBook?

This means you are accessing PitchBook from an IP address that was not provided to us by your university. In this case, please reach out to your school librarian for assistance in connecting to the correct network.

Can we use a microsite and SSO together?

Yes, but it is recommended to use SSO alone, as it provides a more secure and better user experience. Microsites should only be an option if the client’s SSO configuration is not compatible with PitchBook’s.

When I try to go to the Microsite, it directs me to the “Contact Us” page for PitchBook, why is this happening?

Typically, this happens if you’re trying to log in from a not approved IP or referring site. In this case, please reach out to your school librarian for assistance in connecting to the correct network.
