US startups founded solely by women raised nearly $6.4 billion of venture funding in 2021, 83% higher than the total raised in 2020, according to PitchBook data.

Despite the surge in overall numbers, companies founded solely by women faced a disproportionate blow and garnered 2% of dollars invested in VC-backed startups in the US throughout the year.
