DST Global has led a $363 million Series D for Robinhood at a valuation of $5.6 billion. That’s a huge jump from the $1.3 billion valuation it reached last year and puts the fintech business on par with the most valuable VC-backed companies in the US. Existing backers NEA and Thrive Capital participated in the funding, as did new investors including Sequoia and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
Robinhood recently added a cryptocurrency trading element to its free investment platform, which has 4 million users. Here’s a quick look at the company’s VC funding history:
Dec. 2013: $3 million funding
Sept. 2014: $13M funding | $61.5M valuation
May 2015: $50M funding | $250M valuation
April 2017: $110M funding | $1.3B valuation
