Top Investor Tuesday — Most Active VCs in the U.S. Great Lakes Region
November 03, 2015
For the first year since 2009, the number of deals made by VC investors in the U.S. Great Lakes region is set to fall, with only 183 deals completed in 2015 to date, compared to 309 last year. The region, which consists of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin, has averaged nearly 300 deals per year since 2012, seeing investment from 632 VC investors during that timeframe. Illinois has received the largest portion of the deal flow (35%), as well as the capital invested (46%)—largely due to the Chicago metro area, which has accounted for more completed deals (290) than the second most active state (Ohio, 282). Of the 632 investors active in the Great Lakes region since 2012, only 142 (22%) have completed a deal in the past six months.
